Support long-term federal research contracts in aerospace and ground vehicle support.
About the Role
The successful Laboratory Technician supports laboratory operations by preparing test samples, maintaining equipment and materials, and assisting with testing and evaluation. This role ensures accurate, consistent, and safe execution of standardized corrosion test methods while maintaining compliance with laboratory procedures and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
Safety & Laboratory Environment
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment in compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100.
Manage inventory, including receiving, labeling, organizing, and properly storing chemicals and test materials.

Test Preparation & Handling
Prepare corrosion test specimens through cleaning, masking, measuring, and documenting baseline conditions.
Assist with sample tracking, exposure schedules, and related documentation.

Testing & Equipment Operation
Independently execute corrosion testing (ASTM, MIL‑SPEC, ISO) following SOPs with accurate execution and documentation.
Set up, operate, and monitor corrosion equipment including salt spray/fog chambers, cyclic corrosion cabinets, and environmental exposure systems.
Inspect and evaluate specimens using visual assessment, imaging, and data recording.

Data, Reporting & Documentation
Record, process, and maintain accurate test data, logs, and reports.
Complete template reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Support updates, revisions, and continuous improvement of SOPs, work instructions, and lab documentation.

Equipment Maintenance & Calibration
Calibrate, verify, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and test equipment.

Cross‑Functional & Team Support
Coordinate with multiple departments to support testing workflows and communication.
Train and mentor interns and support general lab operations.
Complete additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a STEM related field.
At least one year of experience or coursework in organic chemistry.
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) due to ITAR/EAR compliance requirements.
3 years of previous experience in a scientific lab or testing facility
Demonstrated ability to take direction effectively, prioritize tasks with strong organizational skills, and communicate clearly in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Education/Experience
Experience in a hands on mechanical or technical role, with the ability to maintain and repair equipment, and strong computer literacy in programs such as Word and Excel.
Prior experience mentoring or coordinating a team.
