July 22, 2024 – Fargo, ND Admiral Stuart Munsch, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Europe/Commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Africa/Commander, Allied Joint Forces Command, Naples[MO1] will visit Elinor Coatings on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 as part of Navy Week in Fargo.
Elinor Coatings, renowned for its pioneering solutions in corrosion prevention, degradation, and fouling, will showcase ongoing projects relevant to Navy applications, including the recent progress on development of a high temperature weld-resistant coating sponsored by a grant from the Navy’s National Shipbuilding Research Project (NSRP) in partnership with Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, WI.
Admiral Munsch, a distinguished leader with a career spanning multiple command assignments and strategic roles within the U.S. Navy, assumed his current position in June 2022. His visit to Elinor Coatings underscores his commitment to exploring cutting-edge technologies that enhance military operations.
"We are honored to again host Admiral Munsch at our facility," said Holly Anderson, CEO of Elinor Coatings. "Our team looks forward to demonstrating how our advanced materials and coatings contribute to protecting natural resources and supporting critical military infrastructure."
Admiral Munsch, a native of Oakes, North Dakota and a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a background in electrical engineering, has a distinguished record of leadership at sea and in key Pentagon roles. On June 28, he became the Navy’s Old Goat, the longest serving United States Naval Academy graduate on active duty.
During his tour of Elinor Coatings, Admiral Munsch will engage with researchers and engineers to explore collaborative opportunities in materials science and technology. His visit exemplifies a strategic partnership with the Navy aimed at advancing defense capabilities through research and development. This will be his second visit to Elinor Coatings, having toured the company in 2021.
“We take pride in our commitment to listen to the needs of our customers, including the Navy, and deliver a customized and feasible solution quickly when it is within our ability to do so,” said Dante Battocchi, CTO. “Personally, that is my favorite part of the job. Listening and understanding the needs. Some people think it’s out of place for a North Dakota company to work with the Navy, because we’re so far from the sea. But the Navy is also about the skies, like the Fargo AirSho demonstrates. If there’s an issue with corrosion or surface protection in the air or at sea, we’re here to help.”
