Supporting Future Innovators: Our Experience at the American Coatings Show

The American Coatings Show in Indianapolis is always a highlight for us at Elinor Coatings. It’s an incredible opportunity to connect with industry leaders, showcase our latest advancements in protective coatings for machinery and high-performance applications, and get a pulse on where the industry is heading. But this year, one of the most inspiring parts of the event wasn't just happening on the main exhibition floor. It was happening with the next generation of materials scientists and engineers.

Alongside the Aurora Center for Extreme Weather Materials, a division of Elinor Coatings, we were incredibly proud to co-sponsor the Student Poster Session at this year's show. The coatings industry relies heavily on continuous innovation to solve complex challenges and getting a firsthand look at the research these students are conducting was nothing short of phenomenal. From novel approaches to corrosion resistance to new methodologies for extreme-environment protection, the depth of knowledge and passion on display made it clear that the future of our field is in excellent hands.

It takes a lot of hard work, late nights in the lab, and rigorous preparation to present at a national conference. We know how intense the poster sessions can be, so we wanted to make sure the students had a chance to celebrate their accomplishments and blow off some steam once the session wrapped up.

On May 5th, Elinor Coatings and the Aurora Center co-hosted a dedicated Student Poster Session After-Party at Punch Bowl Social. It was a fantastic evening of networking, great food, and well-deserved relaxation. Getting to chat with the students in a laid-back environment and swap stories about lab triumphs (and mishaps) over ping pong and cornhole was a highlight for our entire team. It gave us a chance to connect with these bright minds not just as future industry professionals, but as people.
